Congress MP Jairam Ramesh criticised the BJP-led Centre, citing US commerce secretary Howard Lutnick's comments that India missed a trade deal with the US due to a lack of direct leadership engagement. Lutnick claimed Prime Minister Modi did not personally call then-President Trump, stalling advanced negotiations. The US subsequently finalized deals with other regional countries.
